4.5.2 GEMSQRAW: PC Environment Variables

There are five environment variables which must be defined before the GEMSQRAW software will run on a PC. They may be defined by adding the following lines to the file c:\autoexec.bat . (If this file does not already exist, then you should create it yourself.) For convenience, gemsqraw.zip contains a file called autoexec.add from which these lines may be copied.

set gem_data=c:/gem_ data/ (the directory for storing .RAW files)
set gcl=c:/gemsqraw/gcl/ (the directory for storing OpenGenie procedures)
set gsq_source=c:/gemsqraw/source/ (the directory for storing OpenGenie modules)
set gem_tables=c:/gemsqraw/tables/ (the directory for storing tables)
set vansm=c:/gemsqraw/vansm/ (the directory for storing smoothed vanadium data)
set gp=c:/gemsqraw/progs/ (a directory for standalone programs)

Note that forward slashes, /, must be used in these definitions, NOT backward slashes, \.
There must be no spaces at the ends of the lines, after the final slash.

You can use directories on some disc other than c:\ if you wish.

Once these lines have been added to the autoexec file, the environment variables will be defined when the computer is next rebooted.

Alternatively these environment variables may be defined from the System icon in the Control Panel: system_icon.gif (1162 bytes)
