GEM Status
During the long ISIS shutdown (January-September 2007) the oscillating radial collimator is being modified so that it can be automatically raised and lowered, in and out of the sample tank. The oscillating radial collimator has worked successfully since its installation in June 2002. In March 2003 it was modified to increase the available incident beam size, and to eliminate the loss in counting time due to backlash.
The final detector bank installation occurred in October to December 2003, to install Bank0 (1.1° to 3.2°) and Bank5X (105.4° to 113.5°). Thus GEM detector installations are now complete.
A computer controlled beam-scraper has been installed and successfully commissioned.
