Running LINT for GEM Data

LINT may be used to subtract a straight line correction from the data for each detector group, after running the program INTERFERE.

The GEM version of LINT is run from GENIE by typing @g_f:lintgem (NOT from the a_b batch menu).

The program requires the data which are to be corrected to be provided in a .INT file. The result will be saved in a .LNT file.

The straight line to be subtracted from the data for each group must be specified by a gradient & an intercept (on the y-axis). The gradient & intercept for each group may be entered in two different ways:

  1. The gradient & intercept may be typed in at the keyboard.
  2. The gradient & intercept may be put in a file before running LINT. This method is to be preferred because it reduces problems with typing mistakes, and it means that a permanent record is kept of the parameters used in the data analysis. Details of how to prepare the file are given here.
