2.1 History Of LAD

The Liquids and Amorphous Diffractometer LAD is one of the oldest neutron scattering instruments at ISIS. LAD was originally installed on the electron linac neutron source at Harwell Laboratory, but was moved to ISIS for the start of operation in 1985. It is planned to replace LAD with a new diffractometer named GEM (GEneral Materials), construction of which will commence in January 1998.
